Witham Town FC smash attendance record!
Why would people fly over from Canada or America to come to England? I'm sure if you were to really think about this question, you would not think the answer would be to come and watch Witham Town vs Gorleston in the Isthmian League North.
The irony is... that is the answer.
Witham Town smashed their club record attendance with 1,203 punters streaming into the step four club's ground to watch their league game vs Gorleston. Thanks to an initiative set up by Awaydays YouTube star, Ellis Platten, Witham Town were able to make history.
How can people fly around the world just for a non-league game?
This just emphasises the direction that non-league football is going in. 'Forget the big leagues' stated Platten when talking to the BBC. All the action is in the Isthmian League North.
Anyone that still thinks the interest lies in the Premier League has got it horribly wrong. Non-league football is making moves that have never been seen before, and instead of the BBC focusing on the latest twist in the Premier League title race, even they are starting to see the sheer togetherness and joy that non-league football brings.
This is just the beginning for record-breakers Witham Town FC and also for the growth of non-league football!
