What was the most intriguing football game of the 2025/26 season? Arsenal v Man City? Man United v Liverpool? PSG v Bayern Munich? Or how about the final day clash in the National League between Rochdale and York City? Sounds about right to me.

The unparalleled drama of the National League final day showdown epitomised all that is great about non-league football in England as of now. A York City 103rd-minute winner to send them back to the English Football League after Rochdale thought they had won it with a 95th-minute goal to break the 0-0 deadlock summed up a season like no other in England's top tier of non-league football.

Games like this are reminding fans of what it is like to be in love with football and live in those unmatched euphoric moments. Unlike being stuck in a Premier League ground and waiting 10 minutes for a VAR decision.

For a game of this magnitude, Rochdale's most expensive ticket was £24! Tottenham season ticket holders are paying approximately £600 just to see their team win at home this season, with the price of season tickets. Talk about a mug's game.

Games and occasions such as this show all that is right about English non-league football and highlight the ongoing wrongs of the so-called 'elite' game.

Let's do our part as the punters and continue supporting our non-league football pyramid!
